Hi guys! I need advice on what i need to do in order to fight a speeding ticket by trial by declaration. I am in california, and I was pulled over recently for going 79 in a 65. However, I do not believe I was going that speed. I believe I was going about 75, which I do not believe is worthy of getting pulled over, nor getting a ticket. It was very late, and I had been driving for over 6 hours. I was driving with the speed of traffic, when I noticed lights behind me. I pulled over off the nearest exist. When the officer came to my window, I asked why I was pulled over, and he said I was speeding and going between 80-84 mph. When, I asked to see the radar he said yes. He then went back to his car, and came back to my window and performed a dui eye test on me, which I passed. He then went back to his car, and yet this time his partner came to my window and told me that they did not get me on radar and intact they tailed me, and he started to describe how they knew i was speeding. (different story than original officer). I then asked what my options were, as I did not believe i was going 80-84. He said that I had to sign the ticket, I signed the ticket and told him I would see him in court because I would be fighting the ticket. We went our separate ways and i finally looked at my ticket, and he wrote 79. A different number than he originally told me.
What is the best language to use when telling my side of the story.
I am located in ventura county, CA and its code vc22349(a)

EXAMPLE: Officer Aircop sees Dawn Driver pass between two markings an eighth of a mile apart. At a speed of 65 miles per hour—the speed limit—Dawn's car should cross the two marks in 6.9 seconds. But if Officer Aircop starts the stopwatch a second too late or stops it a second too early and gets 5.9 seconds, he incorrectly figures Dawn's speed to be (0.125 mile/5.9 sec.) x 3,600 = 76 miles. I occasionally find myself going down the freeway at what I think is a safe and legal 65 MPH, only to glance down at my speedometer and realize I am doing 85. I immediately take my foot off the gas, drop to 65, turn on the cruise control and am thankful no one gave me a ticket. Periodically glancing at the rear-view mirror and the speedometer to get an adequate determination of your vehicle speed, positioning in regard to other traffic and road conditions, 3, would also be good ideas. To be a defensive driver, you have to see what's going on. Possibly the first evidence for the use of an odometer can be found in the works of the ancient Roman Pliny (NH 6. 61-62) and the ancient Greek Strabo (11.8.9). Both authors list the distances of routes traveled by Alexander the Great (r. 336-323 BC) as by his bematists Diognetus and Baeton.
